Before Starting be aware that there is not a magical boxing style which will make you win so you should try and adapt with what you feel comfortable doing. Every person has a different boxing style even if they fit in the same style or they look similar. To start with there at least six different boxing styles and some people are in between them there is not always a pure style sometimes people mix them because that is their very own style and what they feel best with.
- Counter Puncher: They have good reflexes, fast reaction, grat timing, good tactical plan and they tend to be agile. Basically what they try to do is make the other fighter miss and punch and then they throw a punch of their own atacking back when their opponent was not aware. Then they quickly move out of the way to defend themselves. Great Counterpunchers are Guillermo Rigondeaux, Juan Manuel Marquez, Bernard hopkins and Timothy Bradley.
- Swarmer, fighter or puncher: They are aggressive strong and powerfull. This style is often used by guys who are shorter in stature and reach than their opponent so they have to use their force to cut off the ring. They usually press fowards risking getting hit (need for a granite chin) to move to the inside of the opponent and throw a flurry of powerful bent arm punches (need for good stamina). Swarmers should not be confused with the sluggers as swamers still use a high quality technique and footwork when moving. Good examples are Henry amstrong, Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson, Jack Dempsey and Julio Cesar Chavez.
- Boxer, Stylist or Out-boxer: This is the pure boxer who hits and does not get hit he can fight on the inside but they tend to use long range. They are more deffensive and mobile with great footwork. They have a great educated Jab and body movement. They usually win by points rather than KO to avoid taking damage (it does not mean they lack in power). Good examples include Floyd Mayweather Jr, Muhammad Ali, Pernell Whitaker, Evander Holyfield and Guillermo rigondeaux.
- Boxer puncher or Box-fighter: They are very versatile and selective with their punches and body movement. They are pure boxers who love to fight so they select when to fight and when to out-box their opponent. This is a very good style and as I said is very versatile because they tend to adapt to different situations wothout difficulty. Examples of this are Miguel Cotto, Nonito Donaire, Sugar Ray Robinson, Juan Manuel Marquez and Chris Eubank.
- Flash and Endurance boxers: Flash are flexible, random and risky. Endurance Boxers have grat hand speed and stamina. Flash are the ones with can fight orthodox and southpaw they tend to do all this slik movement thanks to their great timing and their talent is big but they can be over confident and lose to clever fighters and stronger boxers. Endurance boxers throw big combinations with lots of punches at great speed and they tend to be all the asians or south americans in the lower weights but that is not always the rule. Flash is practically Naseem Hammed and Endurance are boxers of high tempo such as Manny Pacquiao, Johnny Gonzalez and Donnie Nietes.
